Based in Phoenix, Elijah started his dance journey in 2008 where he first trained in competitive Latin and Ballroom dancing. A few years later while teaching Cha Cha at a Latin dance congress, he decided to take a beginner Brazilian Zouk class and instantly fell in love.

Combining his passion for technique and teaching he decided to dive in fully and learn from as many teachers as possible. Less than 3 years later he and his partner took this training and competed in the Amateur US Open at LA Zouk Festival and won!

The next year they also competed in the Semi-Pro division and took 1st place. He is continuing this desire for fun competition via Jack & Jill events throughout North America. Most recently, he placed 3rd at the Brazilian Zouk World Championships, and 1st at Elevation - the largest competition in the US!

Since then, he has been certified by the Brazilian Zouk Dance Council and completed over 60 hours of teacher training from teachers around the world
