Social Tuesdays: Salsa Bachata Kizomba (SBK) Latin Dance Night

On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, we have guest instructors teaching a one hour Brazilian Zouk workshop at our Social Tuesdays: SBK Latin Dance Night.

Brazilian Zouk is a Latin dance that began in Brazil during the early 1990s. It originated from a Brazilian dance called Lambada with influences from other Brazilian dance styles (Samba, Forro, and Bolero to name a few).

Esther & Tony are Co-Founders of Zouk YYC. They have been growing and teaching Brazilian Zouk in Calgary since 2017. Together they have taught hundreds of workshops around North America, including at Canada Zouk Congress.

They have trained all around North America and Brazil; developing a methodology with a unique blend of teachers such as, Jaime Aroxa, Bruno & Raiza G, and Gui Prada to name a few. Together they focus on sharing Brazilian Zouk in the most technical and comfy way possible while having tons of fun with building the body's awareness in movement and to music.

In their open level workshop they plan to teach the basic movements of zouk. Learn the basic forward and back and mini turn into a lateral — the standard way and with fun variations. With this you can rock the dance floor right away!

The workshop will include partner work, but you do not need to bring a partner as we will rotate partners throughout the workshop. The workshop will be friendly to all ages/levels with something for everyone. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing you can easily move in and clean indoor shoes (comfortable heels or flats).

After the workshop we will have a Salsa, Bachata, and Kizomba (SBK) afterparty. Join us for a fun dance night at this beautiful venue! 💃🏼🌮🕺

Cover for the Social Tuesdays event is $5 early bird (advance purchase via eventbrite) or $10 at the door (cash only, paid at the bar), which includes both the dance lesson/workshop and social dancing.

We also encourage attendees to support the venue through food/drink purchases to ensure the night remains viable.

Drinks can be ordered all night, food must be ordered by 10:45 pm.
