Social Tuesdays: Salsa Bachata Kizomba (SBK) Latin Dance Night

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, we have a guest instructor teaching a one hour House Foundation (Hip-Hop) workshop at our Social Tuesdays: SBK Latin Dance Night.

House is a style based in individual freedom characterized by fluid grooving and intricate footwork, getting its name from the dances and music hosted at The Warehouse in Chicago in the 1980's by DJ Frankie Knuckles. It draws from many Latin, African and Western cultural influences that collided in the club scene to create movement that is fast-paced and adaptable with a range of musical sub-genres, from Afro-House to EDM Drum & Bass. Come learn some fundamentals of the style and piece together sequences designed to explore both the dance floor and your personal flair!

Deejay has been training and teaching in the Edmonton area for 15 years, learning House from members of White Chocolate and drawing inspiration from dancers around the globe. They believe dance should feel good first and look good as a result of the feeling, focusing on breaking down movements and building up complexity in a high-energy environment.

You do not need a partner for this workshop. The workshop will be friendly to all ages/levels with something for everyone. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing you can easily move in and flat soled shoes or sneakers for the workshop component.

After the workshop we will have a Salsa, Bachata, and Kizomba (SBK) afterparty. Join us for a fun dance night at this beautiful venue! 💃🏼🌮🕺

Cost:

Cover for the Social Tuesdays event is $5 early bird (advance purchase via eventbrite) or $10 at the door (cash only, paid at the bar), which includes both the dance lesson/workshop and social dancing.

Food/Drinks:

We encourage attendees to support the venue through food/drink purchases to ensure the night remains viable. Drinks can be ordered all night, food must be ordered by 10:45 pm.
