On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, we have a guest instructor from Calgary teaching a one hour Latin Hustle workshop at our SBK and Taco Tuesday event.
The Latin Hustle, often just called “the hustle,” was a popular form of partner dancing that emerged and developed during the disco music era of the 1970s. Because of its versatility, it has continued to be danced both as a social and competitive dance to new forms of popular music.
Jon Llewellyn has been representing Calgary and Canada as a performer and competitor in the international salsa scene since 2011. He dances with the Salsa Rica Dance company, based in Calgary, and has been a highly decorated world level competitor since 2015. He began training in Latin Hustle in 2009 and it continues to be one of his favourite heated dances to compete in within international salsa competition events.
The workshop will include partner work, but you do not need to bring a partner as we will rotate partners throughout the workshop. The workshop will be friendly to all ages/levels with something for everyone. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing you can easily move in and clean indoor shoes (comfortable heels or flats).
