Starting in March, our Brazilian Zouk classes are moving back to Wednesday—we hope to see you all there!
We’re also launching a brand-new Level 1A Beginner Class on March 5th, and Musicality class for Brazilian Zouk dancers!!! We can’t wait to share this journey with you! 🙏

COURSE CONTENTS
4-Week Musicality for Zouk Dancers
Objective: Help dancers develop a deeper understanding of musicality, timing, and expression in dance.
Week 1:
Understanding Rhythm & Timing
-What is musicality? The relationship between music and movement.
-Basic elements of music: Tempo, beat,
-exercises on beat with different tempos.
Week 2: Tempo and Energy
-Recognizing changes in music
-Dancing through different sections of a song
-Dancing with body isolations.
-Slow vs. fast movements
-Full-song interpretation with guided feedback.
Week 3: Expressing Instruments & Vocals
-Listening beyond the beat
-Matching movement to instruments
-Interpreting vocals: Responding to energy and lyrics.
-Call-and-response exercises with a partner
Week 4: Timing of Chicoche
-Layering Chicoche techniques
-Finding the 1.
-Structure of music: Understanding 8-counts
-Dance challenges with different music styles.
By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in musicality, enabling them to dance with more confidence, creativity, and connection to the music.

-Posture, frame, and connection principles
-Weight Transfer – Understanding weight shift and balance
-Basic on Line – Forward and backward movement with partner connection
-Simple drills to refine leading and following
Week 2: Expanding Movement Vocabulary
-Review of previous concepts
-Viradinha – Introduction to rotation and pivoting
-Lateral – Side-to-side movement and weight change
-Combining Lateral with Basic on Line
Week 3: Variations & Styling
-Review and refinement of Viradinha and Lateral
-Left Side Turn from Lunge -Techniques for smooth transitions between moves
Week 4: Fluidity
-Review of all moves
-Yo-Yo – Adding elasticity and energy to movement
-Connecting Yo-Yo with Lateral and Left Side Turn
