Welcome to the Fall classes at Toca Ottawa Kizomba
This will be a 6-week session.
Location: Bronson Centre
Cost: $100 for full session per class
Drop-in: $25 per class
For intermediate students registered in the 8:30 class, there is an opportunity to register for the beginner 7 p.m. class as well to reinforce your basics for an extra $60 (instead of the full price).
Time: Classes are from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.: Semba Beginner class begins at 7 p.m. In this class, we’ll learn the basic steps of semba and kizomba, and explore some of the most fundamental concepts of the dance, such as walking, shuffles, flow, hold, posture, and musicality.
*This 6-week course will be followed by another 6-week course in later fall to consolidate and add-on to these learnings.
8:30 p.m. – 10 p.m.: Saidas in Kizomba. This will be an intermediate/advance class where we will explore all things exits (saidas) in the kizomba umbrella world. This will cover the wealth of variations of man saida, woman saida, cassamento and what goes in between, and how to take these concepts to create flow within the dance. We will also be paying closer attention to music and how both lead and follow can connect with it in their dance.
*This 6-week course will be followed by another theme-based intermediate/advance 6-week course in later fall where we will lean a little bit more into the UrbanKiz world.
To register, please send us your name, role (lead or follow), class you’re registering to, as well as payment by e-transfer to 4vii.el@gmail.com. You’ll also be able to pay onsite the first day of class (cash or e-transfer).
All questions welcome. No partner needed.
