What is Kizomba?
Kizomba is a dance and music genre that originated in Angola in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Kizomba music originated from Semba music. It is characterized by it’s romantic and strong base sounds influenced by Caribbean, Zouk, and Konpa music, which results in a diverse range of sounds and styles within the genre.

 

The dance is known for its smooth and connected movements. The leader in the dance will guide their partner (the follow) through a series of intricate steps and movements to the music.

In recent years, kizomba has gained popularity around the world and is now danced in many countries, particularly in Europe. Kizomba festivals and workshops are often held in major cities, allowing dancers to learn and share their skills with others in the community.

 

What will I learn?
This introductory workshop will cover core kizomba movements, frame, and connection. Our instructors will teach you essential lead and follow techniques, providing you with the confidence you need to start social dancing. This bootcamp is designed to give you a taste of the dance and set you on the path to becoming a skilled kizomba dancer!
