Bal'heim 2024

Levels:
We will offer two levels during the workshops, with 6 hours of classes in each level on Saturday and Sunday. The levels are described below. If you are unsure which level you should take, feel free to contact us and ask! Exact schedule will be announced at a later date.

Beginner/Intermediate:
You know the basics (up-hold, down-hold, out&in) and several fundamental Balboa moves such as the lollies and toss/throw-out. This corresponds to about 1-2 semesters of regular Balboa classes. At this level you will get to focus more on building a good Balboa foundation while also expanding your vocabulary with variations on the moves you already know. This is a great level if this is your first Balboa weekend workshop.

Intermediate/Advanced:
Your basics are solid in both pure-bal and bal-swing, knowing a few variations of the fundamental figures in each dance style. This corresponds to a year or more of Balboa classes, as well as regular social dancing. At this level the pace will be slightly higher, both in terms of teaching and musical tempo, and you will get to discover new ways to approach the dance with what you already know.

Instructors:
We are extremely pleased to have two instructor-couples joining us to teach the workshops during the weekend: Anni Skoglund & Gašper Hrovat and Linda Bergei & Andreas Bodsberg!

Anni Skoglund & Gašper Hrovat:
Anni and Gašper are professional dance instructors who, regardless of the level of the class, set dancers on a journey with a productive and creative spirit. “We learn from each other” is the mindset that puts their workshops in another category. Their workshops are supported by knowledge of body awareness, their original material and inspiration from their favourite dance masters.

Linda Bergei & Andreas Bodsberg:
Once upon a time in 2000-and-quite-a-while-ago, Andreas started dancing swing in Trondheim and eventually found himself dancing Lindy Hop. At about the same time, Linda found her way into Bårdar Swing Club's venues in Oslo, where she in addition to dancing Lindy Hop also started trying out Balboa at different workshops. Linda was there when the Club started offering regular courses in Balboa, as well as when they hosted the Scandinavian Shuffle in 2012. Later in the same year, Linda and Andreas became training partners in the Lindy group Norweegies, with Linda quickly enlisting Andreas in the Balboa-boom the Club was experiencing.
Together, they have traveled to many different dance events and brought home inspiration that they have happily shared with others in their classes. They have since moved to Trondheim and are thrilled to continue spreading the joy of Balboa in the city!

Parties:
Be prepared for a ton of dancing at our social dance parties, which will take place at our venue: Lademoen Bydelshus. During the Friday and Saturday parties there will be live music provided by local jazz musicians. Finally, on Sunday we will round off the weekend with a cozy social tea dance (ending at around 8 PM).
