Born from a Brazilian family of dancers and musicians, Katreena Cardenas grew up in a dance studio environment where she discovered her passion for Latin rhythms. Since the age of 5, Katreena has been expanding her training in various dance styles giving her a unique versatility that sets her apart as a performer, choreographer, instructor, and artistic director. She is known for her feminine and graceful techniques, which she has developed over the years while staying true to her powerful stage presence and body movement. She is most passionate about Latin dancing and has been invited to share the stage with several world-renowned musicians such as Oscar D’León, Los Adolescentes, Havana D’Primera, Leoni Torres, Fruko y Sus Tesos, Wil Campa, and 27xLatin Grammy Award-winning artist Robert Vilera Son.

As an instructor, Katreena’s strength lies in her professionalism with breaking down complex moves and highlighting the details, making learning easier and fun for all levels. Since she began teaching at the age of 15, her goal has been to spread her love for the Latin culture while creating an inclusive, fun, and friendly learning environment. Katreena has taught workshops in Brazil, Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Currently, Katreena is teaching Salsa On2, Cuban Salsa, and Bachata. She is also the director at Samba Calgary, where she has been teaching Samba and other Brazilian dance styles for over 13 years. 

Katreena is a firm believer that anyone can learn to dance and she encourages people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and levels of experience to explore the Latin culture through the world of dance.
