Fen Kenedy is a full-time professional dance geek.
After attaining their PhD in dance from Ohio State they joined the faculty at the University of Alabama, teaching dance technique, history, choreography, and research. Fen's teaching combines detailed movement analysis with a sense of exploration and play, with a focus on giving students the tools to learn and grow for themselves. Fen has taught for European Micro Fantasia, Mile High Fusion, DJX, Dallas Fusion Reaction, Mezjelly Blues, Snowbound Blues, Express Track Blues, and many other events. They are the author of "Switch: Consent and Gender Non-Conformity in Social Partner Dance," published by the Activist History Review, and have presented lectures on Blues and Fusion for the Dance Studies Association, New York University, Big Damn Blues Jam, and the Arts Alliance in Research Universities. They are the author of the popular dance blog: headtailconnection.wordpress.com and have been profiled by Dance Teacher Magazine.
In addition to their teaching Fen is an experienced organizer, focusing on safer spaces and accessibility. They are available for remote volunteer training in addition to masterclasses and events.
